In the US 33.4% of solid waste is either recycled or composted, 12.6% is burned in combustion facilities and 54% makes it's way into landfills

Who gets the money
My township has been recycling glass, plastics, newspapers
and cardboard for many years. Shouldn't these savings be applied toward our towns budget? How much money is earned? Where does it come from? And where does it go?
These answers seems to be very elusive.

Recycling
There is a large amount of post consumer waste that is not recycled in this country due to the fact that there is just not enough places to reuse, recyle or turn in to keep it out of landfills, what is the answer to make a salution to this?

can you use asphalt grindings off our roads when they repave streets, it packs down to hard surface, will it contaminate the the earth.

im useing these facts for a school project and some people might look at it as a waste of time, but just think of the satisfaction you`ll feel when you know your helping your planet.

recycling is AWESOME!!!...Our family just recently started recycling i feel very good knowing that I'm helping out in keeping our Earth clean but its a little hard u know becuase sometimes i don't know what to put in the recycling bin...Something that really gets on my nerves is that my school doesnt recycle it annoys me becuase at the end of each quarter i empty out my binder and i have A LOT of paper to recycle but my school doesnt do the recycling so as of right now i have a bunch of paper in a bag that i need to recycle

actually...
its better to refrain from recycling some materials
paper, for instance. It produces more CO2 to recycle paper than to make regular paper. Also for every tree cut down to make paper with, on average two more are planted in its place. And not recycling provides millions of people with jobs, helping the economy.
As for recycling plastic, the fumes given off to recycle old plastic creates a greater pollution to the planet than making new plastics. So really when you recycle some materials, you're hurting mother nature rather than helping her.

Don't kid yourself
While I do feel that recycling is important and should be done, the idea that humans could "kill" earth is laughable. Earth has been through a lot worse than we could ever do to it. Earth was once covered comletely with ice sheets miles thick, and life still managed to (barely) scrape by. Don't misunderstand me, humans can do a lot of damage. But even if we liqufied our trash in the microwave and poured it on the nearest living creature life on earth would eventually recover.

Recycling is important not to the others who throw bottles and more on the ground they dont care god gave us a world and we are not taking the chance to take care of it when we should so all the people who dont want to take care of the earth is not recycling people i love recycling but peole make it so much harder keeping it a mess
